Sanay wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Sanay has been enjoying the holidays. He is becoming more and more independent. One moment he will go around the house for a little adventure on his own and the other moment he will come hold you and ask you to pick him up! He is curious to learn new words and tries to repeat the words we say to him. He has recently started waving as we say bye-bye and also says o-o when he falls. It so much fun to hear him say these words. He has also started feeding himself - he is able to pick bytes of little veggies, bread, or roti and eat it with his hands in his high chair.

Cancun trip
Cancun trip was a lot of fun. We went with Swapnil, Sheetal and Sania and stayed at the Grand Mayan resort in Riviera Maya. We went to see the ruins at Tulum and Chichen Itza, spent a day at Cozumel where Sanket had fun doing some snorkeling, and walked around Cancun downtown. It was beautiful and the waters were clear blue. Sanay was a sport throughout the trip. He had fun hanging out at the resort pools in his little float as he kept splashing the water and said 'happy-happy'. We also went to Crokocoon where we had a chance to be around crocodiles, monkeys, deers and other wildlife as well as feed them.
Thanksgiving in New Jersey
We went to visit and Harshanna, Bhabhi, and Deepti for Thanksgiving in New Jersey. Also got together with Kotreshanna and Michelle. Had a lovely feast prepared by Bhabhi. Sanay had a good time as everyone adored him. He has been walking confidently now and is quite an explorer. We also went to New York one day and did some sightseeing. We saw the Empire State building, Rockefeller Center, ground zero, Times Square and took a little cruise to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Trick or Treat
Sanay was bear this Halloween and did really well as we took him down the street trick and treating. He looked at other children as they passed by dressed up in their outfits. One day Sanay will also be old enough to go with his friends and enjoy! It was not so cold and his outfit was kind of warm, still Sanay braved it like a champ. Happy Halloween Sanay dear!

Sanay's first bday celebration
Sanay had good fun on his birthday! He was a little fussy but mostly was a happy baby and mingled with people and posed nicely for cake cutting. It was a fun evening, where children had fun in the bounce house, collected goodies from the pinata and parents enjoyed the evening as well as they had dinner and drinks in the cool weather. Sanay posed beautifully for cake cutting and did not cry! I was so happy with the way the party shaped up!

Fast Crawler
Sanay has started crawling really fast. He can crawl from one corner to another and says 'tha tha' as he crawls when he is excited. He also likes to hold the couch and walk. He loves to read books. Some of the books he reads these days are: 'what makes a rainbow', '123', 'peek-a boo', 'busy farm', 'animals in the jungle' and his favorite book is 'love is handful of honey'. The book is about a little bear's day out and back home. Sanay loves to read the book and it always brings a smile to his face.

Sanay at Gymboree class
We took Sanay to the gymboree play class and he had fun playing the various games that the teacher showed us. The games are aimed at strengthening muscles and enjoying developmental milestones. We played swinging baby on the knee game, rolling a drum game, peek-a-boo, parachute game, sang rhymes and songs, and had fun as the teacher blew bubbles. Sanay also interacted a little with other children while playing games like peek-a-boo, and kick the ball.
A visit to the Dallas Aquarium
We took Sanay to the Dallas Aquarium a couple of weeks back and he had a nice time watching sharks, turtles, corals, a wide variety of fish and other sea life, birds, animals, snakes, bugs, and penguins. It was very hot outside and the rain forest and aquariums were mostly inside so we could still have a fun day out.

At Dad's MBA graduation
We went to Sanket's MBA graduation in Austin on July 19th. Sanay had a good time hanging out with Dad. Nani, Mom, and Sanay cheered as Sanket walked. It was a proud moment for all of us! We also went around downtown, saw the university campus and drove to a scenic point overlooking a lake. It was a fun weekend trip.
I am trying to crawl and stand
Sanay can get into a crawling stance but cannot crawl yet. He is also trying to pull up on us, sheets and other things and trying to stand up. As he pulls up, he can also come to a sitting position. He loves to walk with support. Sanay is getting 4 teeth - the upper and lower central incisors. He is getting a little fussy due to teething but he is doing well. He had his 9 months well baby check-up and did very well. He weighed 21.6 pounds and is 29.5 inches long. He got 2 shots and got some blood-work done and was a very brave boy. He only cried for a few seconds and then tried to play and smile after that. He makes mommy so proud!

I can clap!
My own game
I ate food at a resturant
We went to on the 'On the Border' with Geetan's family and Sanay had so much fun licking a lime wedge. He found it so amusing to taste the citrus flavor and then would make a face when he found it too sour. This activity kept him occupied for a good few minutes. I also mashed cheese and rice and gave it to him. He ate it merrily relishing every bite of it. He had a very good time. It was also his first time having mashed version of the real food!
I can hold my bottle
Sanay is a little over eight months old and can hold his bottle now. It took a little bit of practice but he finally got it. Sometimes, he can even guide the bottle to his mouth. At other times, he gets distracted and starts playing with his bottle and shaking it and gets droplets of milk all over his face. He starts off by holding the bottle with both hands and then moves on to holding it with just one hand and using the other to play with his bib or burp cloth. He thinks why do I need to use both hands to do something that can be done with one and I can use the other hand to play and have fun :)

Messy me!
Sanay mostly enjoys his meals and loves to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables. He particularly likes butternut squash, sweet potato, strawberry, apples, and mango. So far he has expressed strong aversion to avocado but other than that he has been doing good. When he eats, Sanay gets all messy by diving into his food with his hands and then by rubbing the hands all over his face. He loves playing with an empty bowl and a spoon while we feed him. Its fun watching him eat!

Sanay is 7.5 months and is a curious little cat. He wants to hold everything that he can reach be it mommy's necklace or his dad's hair :) When he drinks milk, he raises his legs up in the air and then brings them together. He constantly plays with his burp cloth and does not show any interest in holding his bottle. A few times, he tried putting weight on his hands in an effort to support himself in a crawl position but is he is not there yet. When we encourage him to crawl, if he is in the mood, he scoots foward, otherwise he just rolls over and smiles as he kicks his legs violently. He also likes playing in his exersaucer and loves the lights, toys, and music!

It seems like yesterday when we came from the hospital with Sanay in our arms. He has grown from a tiny little flower that we could cradle and swaddle to a handsome little baby who already loves to stand! At seven months, Sanay can sit on his own for a few minutes as he learns to balance himself. He loves to stand and is the happiest when we help him stand. A few times, I saw him scoot on his stomach in an act that appeared to be a pre-cursor to crawling. We need to baby proof so Sanay can explore :). He also likes to talk to himself and to us. He expresses joy with a tha, tha, tha sound when he is in a playful mood and says gring, gring, gring, when he is complaining and unhappy. He loves playing with Dad and always gives the most precious smile to mom.
